Description:Works primarily in the Visitor Information Center fulfilling visitor requests, by phone, walk-in, fax or e-mail. Provides Durham visitors with assistance and impartial information regarding Durham features, events, entertainment, dining, shopping, lodging, transportation and other services and amenities. Distributes promotional materials, maps and direction cards.
Duties:oDirectly and positively influence the visitor’s opinion of Durham by providing local information, services and assistance.

oStimulate an interest and desire in visitors to extend their stay and to see and do more while in Durham.

oConsistently and efficiently assist and provide information to visitors with a courteous, friendly and professional manner

oProvide a liaison between visitors and the facilities, services, events, activities, agencies and organizations that serve and satisfy them.
oAssist visitor information center staff with data entry, as time permits

oReport visitors’ recommendations and complaints
Qualifications:1)Superior customer service skills.

2)Excellent verbal and written communication skills

3)A committment to serve Durham’s visitor-related businesses in an impartial manner.

4)Physical ability to perform job duties.

5)Extensive knowledge of Durham’s character and culture.

6)Computer capabilities including Microsoft Office

Required obligations:

o4 hours a week minimum committment
oKnowledge of DCVB mission
oDurham resident
